Character Name: Griffen Patrick O'Niell
Character LJ: innameof
Physical description: Griffen is a young looking man who looks pretty solid but also fairly short for a guy he stands at about five feet and three inches or so. His solid frame doesn't appear to be from a great deal of physical training either. His hair is a messy dull to healthy brown. His eyes are a muddy brown color that look very average unless he is talking about numbers and science then they light up a great deal.
Griffen tends to wear a great deal of purple and green along with something fairly neutral like say, tan or another shade of light brown in cheap knock off clothing he buys from any number of bargain level stores.
Age: 24
DOB: November 13, 1988
PB: Richard Khan
Abilities: Hyper Intelligence, low level empathy, MacGyvering broken things to work or to make non-lethal traps or to escape from things. Griffen also has a wide range of knowledge in physics, chemistry, and mathematics. He also has put together several inventions that allow him to have super strength, flight, and a level of toughness that could make him stand up to a good deal of damage but it doesn't have him invulnerable through a series of shields that recharge through kinetic force. But they can't be used for more than eight hours a day. (Think of Strong Guy. It can't get much better than that)
Weaknesses and flaws: Griffen is physically terrified of people bigger than him. He also is very easy to startle and most people can get him to obey him if they appeal to his scientific side or if they offer him the protection of friendship. He hates seeing women get hurt and will become very angry and stutter if he thinks that the woman can't do anything to help herself. He doesn't think highly of anything about himself except for things he has made because he just knows that they're his one thing that works right.
He is easily distracted by his work and will withdraw into himself when it is involved and will forget about everything unless someone uses a very sharp tone with him. Then he'll snap out of it looking very baffled then apologetic.
Character location/Home: New York City Bronx
Alignment: Unaligned
Relatives: Joshua O'Niell (Father diseased) Sarah O'Niell ( Mother living) Connor O'Niell (Grandfather living)
Sorry for the repost but there were typoes in the contact info.
Backstory: Connor O'Niell took over as the father figure for young Griffen after his father died in a bad car wreck when Griffen was a boy. The accident happened during a camping trip his father took him on when Griffen was a boy. There was a mud slide that over took them and pinned his father under a tree that got knocked over. Young Griffen had no choice but to listen to his father and stay up on a high rock where he would be safe until the morning came and rescue workers found him. Since that day Griffen has retreated to the world of science dispite his Grandfather tirelessly working to draw Griffen out of his shell.
He did though discover why Griffen didn't want to talk about his father in the years to come. Connor discovered that Griffen had been trying to say that his father had drank too much and had on occasion hurt his mother. Connor after that took steps to show his son's widow that she should have never taken that and to show Griffen that he could be trusted. During that time he did notice that Griffen was a very bright young man so he encouraged him by giving him material to study from.
When Sarah discovered just how bright her son was she worked hard to help him go where he wanted to. Griffen was trilled by this and used his mother's superior planning to get into college early. Very early. By the time he was sixteen he was in college at the university of New York. He enjoyed being in school at such a high level. His mother and grandfather frequently called him to keep an eye on him. Griffen didn't have many friends in school due to his age so he just kept on studying. The young man graduated at twenty-two and has gone back to school in a graduate program. He doesn't really know what he wants to do with himself so he has been spending much of his spare time inventing small devices as well as larger ones.
Sample post:
There was a young man busily going over numbers scrawled across a white board in his mother's basement. He had worked tirelessly over the figures and couldn't give up now.
“Grif honey, do you want a soda?”
Griffen, Grif to his family, scowled then pondered a soda break. No he was too busy. “No thank you mother!”
“Grif, honey. You've been down there for hours. Won't you come up for a break?”
Griffen shuddered at her tone. He sometimes didn't know what was on her mind. It was very odd not understanding the mind of his mother but he was so rarely home. “Ma. I'm kinda busy down here. I'll be up in a few hours for dinner, ok?”
This was a typical conversation he found calling up the stair well of her basement. His grandpa would be over tonight. He was happy with that. He just wished he had real friends and not classmates in school. He was never really good at bonding with people. He tended to not understand how to talk to them.
But at least he didn't have anyone who would p[protest the shields he was working on. It took him too much work getting the material together to give up now. Heck it took him two years to get his calculations right.
He would test it tonight. He was sure that a few muggers getting hit by a guy like him wouldn't get noticed. Besides the fact he didn't plan on really hurting anyone. Just making sure the shields worked. It wouldn't hurt anyone important if it failed. He could do it.
